Preparing for Your First Childcare Training Class: What to Expect

We know that starting the journey toward becoming a licensed childcare provider in California is exciting and it's completely normal to have questions before your first class. Many of our students have never taken a licensing course before. They often wonder what they'll need, how the class works, or whether they'll be expected to know childcare regulations before they begin. The good news is that you don't need to have all the answers before you arrive.

At CA Preventive Health & Safety, our goal is to make the learning experience approachable, supportive, and informative. Our CA-EMSA approved 8-hour Preventive Health & Safety course is taught live over Zoom by an experienced instructor who guides students through each required topic in a relaxed environment where questions are always welcome.

During the course, you'll learn about Preventive Health & Safety practices, Nutrition, Injury Prevention, Lead Poisoning Prevention, and other important topics required for California childcare licensing.

Before class, we recommend downloading Zoom on your device, testing your camera and microphone, choosing a quiet place to participate, and logging in a few minutes early so you're ready to begin on time.

Most importantly, come prepared to learn.

Many students tell us they leave class feeling much more confident—not only because they've completed an important licensing requirement, but because they have a better understanding of what it means to provide a safe, healthy environment for children.

Beginning your childcare journey doesn't have to be overwhelming. We're here to answer your questions, guide you through the training process, and help you take the next step toward becoming a licensed childcare provider in California.
